AMERICAN OSTERCATCHER, ESTERO ISLAND, FT. MYERS BEACH, FL

These photos and others at the beach on Estero Island were taken on Friday, June 10.  We are just posting them, as my camera had to be fixed, due to it  getting very wet in a rain storm on the beach that day.  Just got the camera back today so I could transfer the photos to my tablet and than to the blog.  The beach and a lagoon are located on the gulf side of Estero Island at its southern end.
We can easily ID this shorebird as an an American Oystercatcher by its very long and thick red bill, bold black and white pattern and pale legs.
The American Ostercatcher is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 304.
